I’m taking my daughter up to Glasgow in October to see an Australian podcast show (Aunty Donna).  She’s seen them before and I like most of their stuff so we’re having a “Dad’s and Daughters” couple of days away.  So if anyone has driven that route recently any insights into traffic etc.?

Now, here’s the problem, I can get train tickets for about £65 with my diasabled railcard which I need to renew before December anyway as we’re using the train then to get to Liverpool for a Xmas cruise.

Or, I can drive, it’s about 170 miles each way so would have to stop off to charge at some point but found a 150kW charger for 51p/kW using Electroverse and as I have £10 free credit it won’t cost me very much to top it up enough to get home.

The problem is that I don’t know if I can still drive that far, the furthest I’ve driven in the last 30+ years is about 140 miles each way with 2 weeks in Florida inbetween (Manchester Airport).  I have done the drive up the A74 before, last time was 3 days after Lockerbie on Xmas Eve, we’d booked a cabin at Loch Awe for Xmas week with our eldest when he was barely a toddler, driving past the wreckage etc was not good  🙁
Anyway, I really don’t know if I can drive that far, obviously I’ll have to make a couple of rest stops but I don’t think I can manage driving back again the next day.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

        It’s my local road!

There are plenty of chargers on it, with some just off, including Tesla chargers. The FastNed at Hamilton are good, but the food (McDo) is a bit of a hike. We sometimes stop at Abington for a splash and dash, with a BK of course! It is Applegreen, Tesla and I think Gridserve.

Carlisle has a good IONITY just off J44 with a Starbucks if that is your thing.

Is there anything else I help with?

          Thanks  🙂

I’m still deciding if I can do it or not!, train is about 3hrs from Durham with only 1 change, with my railcard it’s £65 for the two of us and a mere £87 for a Premier Inn (Buchanan Galleries)!.  So far getting there/back is costing twice as much as the tickets for the show!!  Add in dinner and breakfast and I may have to sell the cat!

Well, Dumfries is about half way between Durham and Glasgow, if you need a comfort break and rest for an hour or however long, you would be welcome. We have tea!
