Sometimes ‘less is more’ you can have that one for free.
April 26, 2023 at 4:53 pm #220200Is Nicola Sturgeon out in the cold? Humza Yousaf hasn’t spoken to predecessor since husband arrested..
April 26, 2023 at 4:57 pm #220202I’m sure he’s been told not to. She’s such a sociopathic liar, she’d probably persuade him to take the rap.
April 27, 2023 at 9:41 am #220223April 27, 2023 at 10:10 am #220226With all thats gone on in the party. I expect the SNP will find it extremely difficult finding any “professional” body. Any independant professional accountant who may be interested, will first speak (as they do) with SNP’s previous accountants and find out why they stopped doing the SNP’s accounts. Also with a “live” police investigation still very much ongoing, its highly unlikely any professional body will work or put their name to doing so. The only slim chance the SNP have of getting a professional auditor is with severe terms attached ad of a much higher costing. Even so the chances of this happening is next to zero, due to the high risk of their reputation…!
April 27, 2023 at 10:16 am #220229Perhaps the forensic accountants currently working for the Scottish Police will be able to help…
April 27, 2023 at 10:54 am #220232Indeed!
The SNP must have the common to realise this and are unlikely to secure an accountant any time soon.
April 27, 2023 at 11:32 am #220239It seems the SNP are still barking on about the 20min scheme flouted by sturgeon!

April 30, 2023 at 7:34 pm #220408Police probe whereabouts of £400,000 worth of bequests left to SNP
Story by Simon Johnson • 2h agoPolice are examining what happened to monies left to the Scottish National Party (SNP) in deceased supporters’ wills, it has been reported.
Specialist officers are understood to be looking at £400,000 of bequests in recent years, including some declared to the Electoral Commission (EC) recently.
More than £1 million has been left to the SNP in wills since 2021, the Sunday Mail disclosed, including £246,000 from the estate of South African-born Estelle Brownrigg that was declared in January this year.
A source told the newspaper: “Large sums left to the party in wills are being looked at as part of the investigation. Huge amounts have been left over the years, including donations declared to the EC in recent months.
“In terms of the independence fund money which has been reported as missing, there is around £400,000 for which officers are trying to account. They are looking at company accounts and bank accounts and at specific items which have been purchased and where funds and items have ultimately ended up.”
The disclosure came after it emerged last week police were searching for “burner” mobile phone sim cards and examining party purchases, including a fridge freezer.
In addition, officers are said to be examining the SNP’s purchase of luxury pens, designer pots and pans and jewellery. Police Scotland has previously confiscated a luxury motorhome from outside the home of Nicola Sturgeon’s 92-year-old mother-in-law in Dunfermline, Fife.
Colin Beattie, the SNP’s long-standing former treasurer, told reporters last week that he did not know about the vehicle and had not signed off the purchase.
He later issued a statement saying he was “unaware of the transaction” at the time and only found out later when he saw the 2021 annual accounts. Both Mr Beattie and Peter Murrell, Ms Sturgeon’s husband and the SNP’s former chief executive, have been arrested and released without charge pending further investigation.
Supporters complaints
Since July 2021, Police Scotland has been examining the SNP’s handling of more than £600,000 in donations raised in 2017 for a second independence referendum. Supporters made complaints when accounts lodged with Companies House in 2020 appeared to show the SNP only had £97,000 in the bank despite the referendum never having been held.Electoral Commission records show the SNP reported a £120,000 bequest from Ms Brownrigg in October 2019, after she died in March the previous year at a Renfrewshire care home.
In January 2023, a second tranche from her estate of £246,000 was reported, with the date of the donation given as the previous month. The SNP also received £300,000 from the will of Morven Polson, a supporter in Edinburgh, a year after she died in April 2020.
Jackie Baillie, Scottish Labour’s deputy leader, said: “The picture just keeps getting murkier. It’s clear that for any semblance of trust to be restored, their members and the public need far more transparency from the SNP.”
An SNP spokesman said: “These issues are subject to a live police investigation. The SNP have been cooperating fully with this investigation and will continue to do so, however, it is not appropriate to publicly address these issues during this time.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “As the investigation is ongoing we are unable to comment further.”

Alex Salmond brands Humza Yousaf a ‘pet poodle’ for letting Stone of Scone leave Scotland
Story by Daniel Sanderson • Yesterday 21:09First Minister Humza Yousaf took part in the ceremony that saw the Stone of Scone sent down to London for the Coronation – Russell Cheyne/PA© Russell Cheyne/PA
Alex Salmond has branded Humza Yousaf a “pet poodle” for allowing the Stone of Destiny to leave Scotland. The former first minister said that if he still led the Scottish government, the ancient artefact “wouldn’t be going anywhere” and that he would have ordered Police Scotland to block its departure.
He also attacked Mr Yousaf’s participation in a ceremony that saw the Stone of Destiny leave Scotland so the King could be crowned upon it, accusing him of squandering a golden opportunity to gain international publicity for the separatist cause.
Mr Salmond claimed that the new First Minister should have held the stone to ransom, only allowing its departure if the UK Government recognised Scotland’s right to hold a new independence referendum.
He claimed that Mr Yousaf looked “like some sort of pet poodle parading on behind” the Stone of Destiny at a departure ceremony at Edinburgh Castle last week.
May 3, 2023 at 7:28 pm #220591Russell is 100% correct in what he said.

Is Salmond deluded? I imagine HMG would say “ah well, never mind. We’ll manage without…”
