      So, forced myself out yet again, this time to Sunderland to look at the Audi Q4 e-tron.

      First impressions were very good, a massive step up in build quality to the ID4 I looked the other day, chalk and cheese really!.  The only thing was I found the driving position a bit tight, not much room between the steering wheel and my legs (no doubt due to the battery).  Other than that a very nice BEV (for £5999!).

      They had a couple in stock and anything factory they reckoned on 6 months.

      Renault Austral – I’d written this off when I looked at a Techno Esprit Alpine, today I went for a 3rd look but found an Iconic Esprit Alpine to try.  Getting in was easier, the battery protruding from under the seat wasn’t an issue like the Techno was.  Probably due to the seat settings but I’m fairly sure the seat in the Techno was fully down and back as well.  Same with over the right shoulder view, in Techno I couldn’t see out of the rear passenger window for the headrest, on the Iconic I could.

      I don’t know if the seats are different or if it was just the way they were adjusted.  Only bad thing is they reckoned on 6 months for factory orders.

      Mazda CX-5 and CX-60, had another look at both.  CX-5 is great but fuel economy is no better than my current Ateca so spending £2699 (with DAP pack) seems pointless, also 6 months with DAP as factory order only, otherwise 3 months for standard trim with no packs.

      CX-60 was once again excellent! very tempting 🙂 but a real world 30 mile battery range for £6,695 (Homura trim) makes no financial sense compared to a BEV.

      Back to having a long hard think!!!  🙂

      Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

          @Phaedra as Paul says the q4 is £5995 🙂

          Did the q4 you looked at have leather seats or was it an older model?

            Oops! corrected it 🙂

            Yes, full leather 🙂

            I must also add that compared to my local VW dealer the Audi, Renault and Mazda delaers I visited today were very good indeed.  Makes a huge difference to the looking/buying experience when you deal with someone who actually wants your business 🙂
