      Hi all, I ordered my Jeep Avenger in May 2024

      Was told it could take up to 6 months which I wasn’t too fussed about as I hadn’t even passed my driving test at the time of ordering, so it was good motivation for me to get my license. (I passed first time 😎)

      Anyway, in December 2024 I was told that the car was in port and that it should be delivered either end of December or the first week of January… it’s now march 2025 so it’s been at port for 4 months now..

      my dealer now says end of march latest but I’ve heard that all before so I’m not even holding my breath.

      Does anyone know why it’s been at the port for so long?

      I’m so grateful for the motability scheme but my dealers customer service experience has definitely took away any excitement I had about getting my first ever car.

        @libertycity have you asked motability customer service about the delays? Too see if they can look into it for you.

          I would expect max 2-6 weeks for a dealer to get a car delivered from a UK port, depending on manufacturer.

            Dealer BS I’m afraid. If the car had really been in port in December you would have had it by now. I strongly suspect that they didn’t have a build slot when you placed the order and didn’t tell you that they’d have to sit on it for a while before placing the order with the factory. Sadly this happens over and over again with car dealerships and is more than likely the real cause of 90% of the delays that are raised on this forum. I’d be inclined to call a different Jeep dealer and ask what their realistic lead time would be if you ordered a Jeep Avenger today (specifically ask if they have any immediately available build slots). Armed with this info you can chase your dealership or potentially even threaten to cancel and re-order with the different dealership. This will usually result in things speeding up all of a sudden.

            BTW, we have two things in common. Passing our driving test the first time (😇😂) and our first car being an Avenger – although my Avenger was made by Hillman in 1975 😂

              @Glos-Guy

              Did it go like this?

                @kezo Not quite 😂 It was the more powerful 1600 variant and, as an inexperienced 18 year old driver in their first car, I probably managed some of those moves unintentionally 🤣 It was 7 years old when I bought it and it wasn’t terribly reliable (as you know, most British built cars in those days weren’t, whereas most 7 year old cars these days are pretty much trouble free), but it served me reasonably well for a year or two until I traded it in for a 2 year old Cavalier! Those were the days!
