It’s just my opinion, but I don’t see how they won’t price the AP high in April
My logic in assuming this is that sticker price in the UK doesn’t show any sales taxes, just the ‘final price’
It’s why when taxes on Petrol are reduced it doesn’t always go down at the pump immediately. There’s no legal reason for a petrol station to do so.
VAT is applicable to new leases from 1st July, but the car may be applied for today, and not delivered until after. The ‘sticker price’ aka the AP has to assume that it will be handed over afterwards.
The only difference then is if Motabiliy need to pass on the VAT to HMRC.
If it was for “1 or 2 cars” they’d probably take the hit, but it could be every car, especially if there are delays to supply…. so the safe option would be to make APs from April cover the cost.
Not what I want to happen, and feels a bit wrong, but from a business perspective, and they are a private company, a ‘smart move’
I hope I’m wrong.
