I went thru something similar with someone I knew. They had their licence a year.

He got away with getting a full licence back there was/is a kinda loophole here. The revocation is based on points 6 in this case. You get 6 points you start from scratch.

However, the court can ignore points solely issue a fine or just give you a suspension. If they don’t give you the points just a ban then it can be done to dodge revocation.

In the case I was aware of he threw himself on the courts mercy etc etc and the court agreed a bigger fine and short ban but no points so after the ban he did get his licence back.

I’m not trying to imply this happens often because I don’t know but I did know if you act contrite and do everything that’s asked courts can help you too.

Had another friend with fines etc for all kinds of bad behaviour, we were 21 at the time. I got the guy into university and turned his life around. At a later review court admin reassessed him and saw what was happening and wrote all the fines off to help him as he’d made a big effort.

I really hope this works out. I would make an official complaint to DLM and MB tho they should’ve told you that she’d not be insurable afterwards.

Also this is really unfair on younger drivers who can get banned way more easily for stuff that an older driver would not. Is it fair to ban someone from motability for 5 years for say getting 6 points for having 2 iffy tyres (tyres and motability arguments aside lol)

If we’re going to hold younger or inexperienced drivers to a higher standard than everyone else for 2 years then there needs to be wriggle room here.  They’re literally treating every offence that results in a ban the same way regardless of the original incident.

It’s equally not fair for those who pass at 17 then don’t drive for years due to being a student, so you still have no experience 2 years later but you don’t have to worry about that 2 years either despite you still having no experience. My eldest is in that position he’s 19 now at uni so no car another 3 years and he finishes hopefully with his Masters but when he does of course no 2 year sword of Damocles over his head.

Surely the sensible thing for MB to do in these cases esp with adapted vehicles is get them to put a big chunk of cash down as a deposit. Don’t crash 4 years later you get it back or they keep it to pay higher premium I dunno that’d be way fairer.

It’s not fair on MB either because they lose income and lose money on specialist adaptations.

Also the op should ask MB about the payoff those that lose their PIP can get as they lose their car, maybe there’s some help as you leave with some kind of severance payment.

I hope it works out as best as possible for everyone
