Just wondering how much data usage is needed for the drive smart. From what I know I need to use an app on my phone to connect to the device when I receive it. How is it powered? The 12V is currently used for the dashcam. Thanks for the replies
The other option of course is to tell Motability that you are unable to use a smartphone or it is not possible for you to use a smartphone.
As per their webpage, Motability will then fit a device to your car that does not require a smartphone/app.

It then narrows their tracking capability down to the vehicle only and not the user’s smartphone.
Also, it transfers both the cost of the device and any running costs to Motability.
If enough customers do this, Motability may not be so ‘trigger happy’ to be imposing the cost of a smartphone and airtime etc onto its customers.
