Look at the VAG group as a whole! There’s no diversity or styling change, all their cars look pretty much identical inside and out ( model etc ) same buggy software and the build quality is poor now and you don’t get the same tech as you did 5+yr ago, now you have to add packs etc!
My sentiments exactly. We’ve had around half a dozen VWs over the years, but they don’t remotely appeal now, for all the reasons you gave and more.
My mate would only drive VWs got a new one every 4-5 years. It would always be the sporty golf until he had the engine blow 3 times (3 new engines under warranty). He rejected the car and hit a full refund, went straight to the BMW dealership and hasn’t looked back. That was 15 years ago now, he said there’s were signs then the build quality was becoming more ‘cost aware’. Now it’s strange that Skoda are doing so well but the VWs are just getting worse each release.
I suspect packs will be in our future for many years to come, it’s a good way to get money for stuff nobody really wants, just stick it in a pack with a couple of slightly similar things and call it a pack.
