We’ve had a BEV since 2021 and have done a few trips from Lincoln to Peterhead in that time. The infrastructure available four years ago was literally non-existent with all motorway charging at 7kWh and the fastest we could find was 50kWh. Now, fast forward to the present day and by comparison, there are 1000’s more chargers available but the problem is cost. Like others, we do most of our travels within home charging distance, but if we couldn’t charge at home, things would be very different. We’ve got a MG HEV at the moment as a hire car and fuel comparison is scary, in just under three months we have used £250 fuel which in electricity would have cost us £56.
Charging cables are still unwieldy things the majority of the time, especially the fast chargers, and that’s as an abled body person.
