    It is a 204 bhp plug in  hybrid with more than adequate torque. I have found the 1.5 tsi dsg to be tractable from just over idle, even in a higher gear. The additional 114 bhp electric motor with its instant torque should provide even better responses, despite the added weight.
    In my identically sized Allspace and previous Touran, it has proved to be an excellent, economical, refined and effortless cruiser, with sport mode holding onto gears for overtaking. There are arguements for a diesel if you do big miles out of town and carry several adults and cargo, or tow. I do not. A Touran with another 1.5 tsi dsg is in the port and hopefully delivered soon. I have driven a number of rival engines both here and in the USA and have no hesitation in getting another.

    If PHEV suits, the Kodiaq is much cheaper and probably better than the equivalent Tiguan, on the scheme. IMHO.
