Rich thanks for your suggestion. I know that there are other cars that would cater for my basic needs reasonably well in just getting from A to B, so I do have other options. However, because I don’t do a lot of miles these days I’ve been considering two different scenarios as I come to the end of this lease.

    1) I can give my current car back and then rely on my excellent family to take me shopping and for appointments etc.

    2) I can get another vehicle that will excite me enough to increase my vehicle usage to make it worthwhile …. to actually really enjoy going out …. if only for regular drives out to local beauty spots (I’m lucky to live in a very scenic area).

    I’ve decided on option 2.

One of my big pleasures is to listen to my eclectic collection of music (stored on USB) on a really good audio system. So with that in mind I’ve added the “Sensation pack” which is a £1200 option and upgrades the audio from standard to the Focal 690 watt hi fi with ten speakers (built in France not China). I already have this system in my current car so I know how good it is. It also adds an opening sunroof for those warmer days when I will go out just to chill and enjoy both the views and the sounds.

You might say “If you’re that bothered about seating issues you could get rid of the sensation pack and have the £1600 auto seating pack instead” (that’s probably what Motability would say, lol) and that makes cold hard common sense, but then I might as well stay home on those warmer days with my windows open, looking at our superb view and listen to my ‘banging’ 2000 watt Yamaha sound set up in my comfortable office.

I am trying  to extend my mobility and independence for at least another three years, and if it means that I have to pay for another expensive option then I will (although I would rather it was already included).
