I don’t agree with it either and the petition is also appallingly written as it doesn’t make a reasoned case. We already have a benefit system that addresses those in genuine need and, as mentioned by others, why should other tax payers fund this. We all have a responsibility to ensure that we make provision throughout our entire working lives for our retirement and not be relying on the state. The state pension should just be a top up to that. Anyone relying on living off state pension alone is in for a very poor quality retirement. State pension ages will rise not fall (already in statute) and to think that it will fall is deluded IMHO.
