Hi, I’ve been put onto the scheme for the first time and am not quite sure how it all works so if I could ask a few questions, it’d be very helpful.
I’m profoundly deaf so I can’t call Motability and the case manager for the grants team assigned to my case won’t respond to emails, which is fine as the cars she suggested are not a good fit.
The priority for me is my hearing dog for the deaf being able to get in and out of the car with no issues and have enough space to be comfortable in the boot. As my partner dog is getting older, I’m trying to think of her needs as time goes on. I may also be given the opportunity to have another hearing dog when my partner retires and I adopt her which means 2 dogs to transport.
I’ve been to the local Ford dealership twice now and gotten conflicting information from different sales people. I spoke to the Motability manager by email but he’s not gotten back to me for more than a week. Reason I went to Ford was due to it being the closest location but I’m happy to travel further.
I don’t like estates so I’m looking at the Focus hatchback and the Kuga.
The salesperson yesterday said if I went for extra options, I get a discount on them. Which was a surprise to me as I assumed I had to pay for anything extra? If this is true, does that mean Motability covers the remainder of the cost of added options? Is there a chance that Motability will say “no, that’s not necessary, we won’t pay for that”?
Do added options made available and payment costs vary between dealerships and manufacturers? Or is it more of a thing between Motability and the dealership itself? Am I required to talk to Motability to get their approval for them?
I’m not sure of what is what and the sales people didn’t give me much confidence. First one said the Kuga hybrid was a FHEV that ran on diesel (eh?!). Second one yesterday said the FHEV option was fully electric and required plugging in, I asked if he was sure and he said yes, that I had made a mistake.
Sorry for length of post but help with understanding the added options would be appreciated, thanks.
