I just contacted Admiral who take into account “no claim years” – I was quoted over £2000 for a 5 door ordinary 2019 year hatchback. I used the money saving comparison sites who initially said places like AA would insure me for £700 ish, but when I go to their sites it’s even more than Admiral. It’s unbelievably expensive, on top of the deposit needed to get a car with very little notice in the first place it’s enough to wipe someone out financially in one fell swoop.
Try Adrian Flux or other brokers. Direct Line also worth a try given they are taking over from RSA 🙂
