When the dealer sent these invoices over I asked on the phone when he called what was the final amount I owed and he said £2689 which is what I payed at the dealer ship drove out with the car then 2 hours later they rang me asking for the £753 I think it what it actually is that they are saying I owe. I didn’t even realise I shouldn’t be charged the rfl

I don’t mean to be rude Alan, but your confusing your own figures. Sit yourself down and go through your paperwork  again and try and remember what the dealer said 🙂

Your T-Roc R design DSG has an AP of £2699. If you paid £2689 that doesnt matter youve saved £10.

The dealer invoice for the actual car shown below ignore. Motability will sort payment with the manufacturer directly and has no bearing to you directly, as you have paid the required AP of £2699.

total cost we owed was £2699 which was confirmed on the telephone, we payed at the garage (have receipt) now they say it was an error on their end and we owe them another £740

What matters is the £740 invoice for factory fitted options the dealer phoned you up about the day after you have taken away your car-shown below

Correct me if I’m wrong – you say you phoned the dealer the day before to agree the price £2699 (AP). You then went down the day after and signed the paperwork and handed over the money (£2699) You then drove away in the car 2 hours later. The day after you collected your car the dealer contacted you again to say you owed them another £740 and an invoice was produced for this amount (£740)

If this is the case realisticaly you owe them nothing as it was the dealers mistake to which they have admitted. It’s like you going into a shop and realising you were short changed when you got home, you then go in the next day and the shop keeper say’s it’s your fault you should have checked your change before you left so tuff.

What has happened in your case is – the salesman has allowed you to have a car without realising it has factory fitted options on it. Later that day after you had collected your car, the sales manager or accounts department have noticed your car had factory fitted options on it and told the saleman who you had your car off. The saleman then tried to be crafty thinking you were a soft touch and tried to correct his mistake by sending you a invoice for the factory fitted options the day after you collected your car.

Are the factory fitted options 18″ alloy wheels and rear-view camera benificial to you – would you have paid extra for them if you had done a factory order for your car?

My advice from this point forward is to either write to the dealer or email them as you have a paper trail. If none of the factory fitted options are of benifit to you I would write/email something on the lines of “None of these options have any benifit to myself and I would not have ordered the car from you if I had known this at the point of sale. Therefore I’m not willing to pay extra for them.” The chances areyou will hear no more from them as it was their mistake!

If however the reverse-camera is of benifit to you you could write/email saying something like “I’m not willing to pay for the alloy whees as they have no benifit to me, but I’m willing to make a small contribution of x amount towards the reverse camera. However I’m not prepared to pay the full asking price shown on the invoice for the said reverse-camera, as I would not of specified it as an optional extra”
