If I watch, that’s another view. That’s what they’re after – views. Enough people share it, even if outraged by it, the creator will have earned some money from it. If it’s something I fundamentally disagree with, why enable that just by confirming my suspicions.
It’s the same as Daily Fail links, I’ll not click and add to their numbers purely because I won’t feed the beast. It’s why the inflammatory Clarkson post of recent notoriety happened, people saying stuff professionally because they’ll get a huge number of clicks from people sharing this evil post/video/article absolutely livid about the nonsense, then they and their friends will all post abuse in reply and some will share it further. Why the hell would I take part in encouraging such behaviours?
If I’m wrong, then I’m sure someone would tell me and I can then choose to view the video, or not.
I’m part of a number of groups fro EVs and one groups has finally banned such links for that very reason, so many people share it inflamed by the ridiculous claims then a bunch of people watch it, get equally inflamed, post replies in the comments pointing out all the errors, just for said poster to have improved stats. Do that worldwide and you’re making money.
