I think that the standard 3 year lease is fine, but those extending beyond that shouldn’t have to continue sacrificing their full benefits. I think that 50% would be fairer given that the current setup is a very nice earner for Motability.
Not sure what you mean about EV’s being longer living? At present, the high cost of battery replacement means that most EV’s would become uneconomical to repair after 8 to 10 years, whereas there are millions of ICE cars that last much longer than that and can be kept going with quite low maintenance costs and have next to no depreciation as they haven’t required new batteries at an outlay of many thousands of pounds. Obviously that will change in the long term as battery costs will fall.
