My Ateca 1.5TSi manual is nowhere near your figures. Shortish trips it struggles to get 35mpg, on a medium run around 38, doing a steady 50mph on a flat dual carriageway it can peak at 45 but never holds that. Even my previous 1.2 petrol “brick on wheels” (Yeti) did a bit better!. My range says 370 to 380 miles when fully filled up, around the first 60-90 miles using the trip reading and range reading it adds up to about 415 but drops quickly after the first 1/4 tank and I get about 350-360 in the real world.
I don’t know why you’re struggling – do you use cruise control – or not sure how much impact the DSG has? MPG on short runs (around 1-2 miles) of course sucks, but that’s just how it is. We can’t even break 35mpg on those, but again, that’s normal due to petrol engines being inefficient when cold. Our range says 420 miles when fully filled up in summer. Our highest MPG was 49.7mpg.
Difference between E5 and E10 is noticeable, but nowhere near as bad as people make it sound. It’s 1% to 3%, so our 49.7mpg would have been 48.2 in the worst case.
