Congrats on the pikes, ajn. I know my dad and my older brother used to love going fishing together, though la aroma de gear when they got home was often worthy of comment. And the unalloyed delight of once finding an ice-cream tub of maggots in the freezer. Happy days!
Meanwhile, back at the Water Gardens . . . Our neighbour popped over yesterday, just after dinner, to tell us that we had a water leak on the path between our properties. He had actually noticed it when he took his dog for a walk in the morning, but forgot to come and tell us when he got back! Still, DH managed to turn the water off at the stopcock next to the water meter (at the bottom of a two ft deep hole, next to the impossible to read water metre) and after a bit of faffing we arranged for the SW Water Flying Squad to send a man over to pinch the pipe and slow the flow rate until it gets fixed today. Even as I type this the doorbell has ding-donged and a chap’s now out there sorting it out . . .
