Marc, try scraping paint or lacquer off the tin and the lid where they meet and see if that makes any difference. There is probably no electrical connection between the two. Near field signals are tricky, the smallest gap allows the signal out. I know our car recognises the key inside the car even it’s in the pewter key box, but if I wrap the key in a square foot of foil it doesn’t see it. Mike’s kitchen is outside the near field range – different conditions apply..
Okay thanks Wigwam,. When I’ve got time tomorrow I’ll do a continuity tests between the body and the lid. I don’t have any experience in this as I’ve never looked into it as my car does not have keyless entry. To give me the heads up how many ohms are you expecting.
