When I ordered my last car, I asked the dealer if he required a deposit. I had ordered a CX5 with no extras and his reply was that if I cancelled he could sell the car easily.
Nobody likes waiting for a new car so providing you don’t order unusual extras, I’m sure any dealer would be happy to offer a cancelled order to a customer on his waiting list, potentially at a higher profit margin.
