    I spoke to a bloke on another forum who had done just that, fitted two Tesla powerwalls, a big bank of solar panels, converted his gas CH to electric and heat pumps and bought an electric car. He estimated he would make his investment (somewhere north of £45k) back in 8 years as he sold excess power back to the grid and used the system to power his house and transport. The double powerwall was really so that he could recharge his car without impacting the ability to run the entire house and to ensure the odd bad winter week didn’t see him running dry. Lives in Newcastle, so not the sunny South East either. His predicted lifespan for the system was 15 yrs, somewhat less for the inverters.
