I’ve never been too adventurous when travelling so it’s been Spain mainland, Balearic and Canary and a bit of Cyprus chucked in for good measure.
Used to go 2 or 3 times a year and its not so much the places themselves but the atmosphere at the time, remembering stepping off the plane mid January into 26C sunny Fuertevenura after leaving the UK 4 hours earlier in fog and ice.
Have not been abroad since becoming disabled in 2008 as I just don’t think I can handle the airports any-more regardless of them giving you help and all that but also not being abled to hire a car abroad does not help matters either as were not the type that sits by the pool all day so without a car its no go and so these days we’ve become very fond of Dorset, Isle of Wright and are happy to spend our holidays there now with going aboard just a distant, but happy memory.
I would love to do the highlands of Scotland and only wished they still did the old overnight car sleeper from Bristol to Aberdeen that I just about remember used to run up to about the 1970’s. I have to do all the driving as OH does not drive so highlands is out of range for me though drove to the Lake District last September and used that as a stepping stone into the boarders of Scotland so might plan something like that in future with one night stop overs as hop skip and drive into the wilds of Scotlands highlands.
