Carers allowance is even more of a joke than that – IF you claim carers as my wife does (yes, I understand you can’t) you lose part of your ESA so by my wife giving up work to be my full-time carer, I think we get a couple quid a week, maybe less, but on the plus side it means she gets her NI credits apparently… Beyond a joke doesn’t even come close – he has to do 35 hours of care for about £20 if you count the NI bit – if an employer tried to pay that they’d be dragged into court BY the government…
