I’ve got a Disqus account that I use on sites where I may have some interest but not enough interest to become a full member of a forum. Basically it just enables me to put my two pennies worth of comment in with the site owner able to trace me should I was to say something inflammatory, unlawful or insulting.

chris that’s not totally accurate the disqus site has its sign in and although at presesent we don’t have a compulsory sign in things are still traceable, people believe by using a VTN/proxy etc then it’s not, unfortunately that’s not true and a pattern still shows. Our security filter works in the back ground and picks up multiple issues including multiple users, Spam, porn, threats etc. At present and maybe I shouldn’t divulge this as I don’t have permission from WMC and it’s only admin that has access to it but note the “hidden”in the following paste, (taken from my screen) and the 306 figure is only recent since the last tidy up from WMC.

This forum contains 3,563 topics (+ 306 hidden) and 44,724 replies, and was last updated by John Smith 3 hours, 50 minutes ago.

Most of those are Spam and sites that we wouldn’t want on our Forum and the filter deletes them automatically and flags others for approval, we also know and can check if someone was to post as for example as Chris but also post as Bob, David ,Gorden etc it still shows irrelevant of if they use Opera Mini or any other provider to hide the true identity, it’s a shame people feel the need to do it and not be themselves, but we are not here to judge just help.

Disqus (used by the home page) is separate from the Forum system but similar , Disqus is used by many users and business users alike, ive myself posted on it and have an account for business use,but it can cause conflict if you have an account or try using other forums using the same system as it recognises an IP address and even a device, I only realised this when I first joined used the forum and depending on which device I used it signed me in automatically.
