The Drive Smart initiative for the Motability Scheme will be rolled out to new scheme users starting from April 2026. This program will require all drivers on a new lease to use a telematics device that tracks driving behavior, including speed and braking. The rollout will initially apply to drivers under 30, but it will expand to all first-time customers joining the Scheme from 13 April 2026. Motability plans to pause and review the effectiveness of this rollout and consider a wider implementation in the future.
