On BBC Question Time last night they were talking about cost of living pressures, and a lady in a wheelchair mentioned the changes to the Motability scheme that were going to be costing people over £1,000. In a typical government dodge, the government minister on the panel said that he was happy to talk to her “after the programme” about “her situation”, which leaves the audience thinking that the issue is specific to her, rather than all Motability customers
I saw that. It was the “we’re helping keep the scheme affordable” comment that had me shouting at the TV. I’ve never known adding to costs be referred to as making it affordable. I’ll be chasing my MP to see what BS he tries as I point out the realities of where the changes and the availability/prices of the scheme puts us.
