Last week my Dyson V8 went dead after 5 years I’m on the lookout for a new cordless hoover which is good on carpets and is easy to empty ? Can anyone reccomend a rival to Dyson ? Many thanks in advance

May 30, 2025 at 9:39 am #306003These are worth checking out. Also Argos had 20-30% off earlier in the week in most sections.
Dyson V10 – Henry hoover Quick – Shark Anti Hair Wrap & Flexology & Vax Blade
I have a Henry Quick and a 16yr old Henry, which is better than any Dyson but, corded.
Mike are you sure it isn’t the battery that doesn’t need replacing?
May 30, 2025 at 6:17 pm #306021Kezo I took it up the tip yes could have been battery how much would that have been ?
May 30, 2025 at 8:02 pm #306024Went in for a Dyson v11 and walked out with a shark lift away. It’s not even cordless. Buyers remorse anyone.

We have a Shark lift away, best vacuum we’ve ever had, miles better than our old Dyson.
One benefit of the Dyson was how easy it was to repair, had it 15 years and replaced the motor twice and brush head and bar 3 times.

May 30, 2025 at 8:43 pm #306027We bought a Vax, the charged battery time when in use is not good at all, phoned Vax said battery runs down fast when in turbo mode 🤣, far less than advertised, they tried to blame my carpet, I replied well maybe it’s upto you to explain this, we decided a spare battery & charger free & posted to settle the matter..
Its quite good with two batteries to swap/charge..

May 31, 2025 at 8:01 am #306035My family still has an old Henry corded like yourself they are used in schools and offices but alas I want cordless and don’t want to trip over the wire

The Henry quick is not a bagless vacuum cleaner, it used with what Henry calls pods. The big benefit to me, is it allows you to empty the stick cleaner dust free and I get a years supply of genuine pods from ebay £12.
If you want baggless:
Shark Anti Hair Wrap & Flexology Cordless Vacuum Cleaner iz202uk has 30% off £175 instead of £250 Argos.
Another Dyson V8 around £250
That said, I don’t know why you don’t replace the battery on yours its only a 5-10 min job.
May 31, 2025 at 12:35 pm #306045May 31, 2025 at 5:27 pm #306047We moved to a Gtech battery chage hoover and have not looked back since. Got a great deal at the time as the Gtech hand held was included with it.

I have the standard Henry (Red), as it was £40 cheaper at the time however, they are the same units & power but, with different attacments. The Pet gains an extra motorised floor brush and comes in blue!
There is no Turbo version on Henry site only Henry, Hetty, Pet & Pro!
If going for a Henry, the Pet is a no brainer due to the offer price.
June 1, 2025 at 9:34 am #306075I’m sure you get pods with it ???
You get 6 pods and 10 air freshner disks 🙂
