Motability state:
You’ll pay it directly to your Motability Scheme dealer, either before or on the day you get your vehicle. If you want to pay by cheque, you need to allow seven days for it to clear first.
How you pay your Advance Payment depends on your dealer:
Bank transfer: every dealer accepts this, but you’ll likely need to send the payment one or two days before you get your vehicle
Debit card: some dealers accept up to £1000 this way, but not every dealer does
Credit card: only a few dealers accept this
Cheque: dealers do not accept these
Cash: most dealers do not accept this, but this is down to each dealer’s discretion
