I am reading forums where owners of new 2023  kia sportage 2 weeks old cars that had breakdown with engine  pully breaking  and haveing long time to fix as dealerships don’t have replacement parts ,  I’ve only read of 3 people haveimg this issue 2023, does anyone have  info on this ,& surely 2024 2025 kias are robust and these issues have been sorted ,ive read only 3 cars with these problems & given the amount of sportages sold that’s small number , anyone heard of issues with my 25 new gts hev sportages , alot of what I read is exellent reports on gts hev sportage , bless all.

I guess I’ve seen read so many good things about sportage gts hev ,it’s odd to see these problems ,but it was 2023 models , may of been parts faulty production problem.

Yes I’ve read same reports but the most obvious complaint is the PPF on the petrol don’t know if the same problems are effecting the HEV.

Yes I’ve read same reports but the most obvious complaint is the PPF on the petrol don’t know if the same problems are effecting the HEV.

There are several reports of it happening on the HEV at a highe mileage but, not quite to the extent as the Petrol and MHEV, which can happen in as little as 300 miles.

A guy I speak to around the corner, up untill very recently had the GTS HEV and has had the pully issue whils’t towing his caravan and numerous PPF issues at random times especially when towing. He now has a Nissan X Trail E-40rce TeKna, which he loves and won’t go back to Kia so he says!

However one thing to note, the 2025 Sportage (Tucson) have  slightly different engine spec’s, which may have there own set of issues rather than any of the issues plagued by the 22/23 models.

I’m not sure about other manufacturers, but KIA seem to have long waits to get faulty cars looked at and even longer waits to get them repaired. I think this is a KIA issue rather than dealership issue as I’ve read of delays numerous times.

I’d be fairly confident with leasing the HEV, but would avoid the MHEV unless you do frequent, long motorway journeys. My MHEV’s PPF get clogged up around every 1,000miles and mpg is extremely poor on shorter journeys.

I think there was a spate of pully’s going, probably a bad batch as I’ve have not seen any other reports of this for a while now.  As to the long wait times for repairs, KIA, like most other popular car manufacturer’s don’t keep a stock of spare parts on shelves, so everything is on back order.  KIA do have a history of copping a deaf un when consistent problems arise, but probably no more than the others.
