Similar, not quite the same.  Mine is the effects of having a cyst eating away at whatever it could.  Thus there’s narrowing of the gap between the vertebrae at L3/4 and damage to the end plates.  The long term expectations are that the remaining disc will finally be removed and then the bone will fuse together.  What long term impact that has remains to be seen but none of it sounds particularly pleasant. The closest effect I get is sciatica type pain shooting down my left leg (typically that’s the good one) but, so far, blood supply is fine.  What makes me feel much better is that I know of 2 people with the exact condition I have, both were left unable to walk as the infection hit the spinal chord itself.  At that point, I’m feeling rather delighted to be walking at all.

I hope they can find something that eases the condition for you.
