    Hi @Anthony,

many thanks for that insight. I was planning a similar European road trip down to Southern Spain next year so it’s reassuring to hear that your charging experience was so positive.

I had to charge away from home for the first time yesterday, and chose an Instavolt charger which was close to where we were staying over the weekend. Unfortunately, the charger would not accept my Octopus Electroverse card, and also my debit card was declined by my bank for some reason (not lack of funds, I hasten to add!) Third time lucky it did accept my credit card, but I well and truly had my trousers pulled down and backside spanked at 85p/kWh!! I understand that with only occasional charging away from home (where I’m currently paying 19p/kWh until next September) it doesn’t affect the average cost too much and in the past I’d have been putting 70-80 pounds of petrol in my old ICE car.

And yes, once my current fix ends, I’ll be looking at the option of a cheaper overnight tariff – there’s no incentive to change at the moment as I only cover relatively low mileage (approx. 500 miles per month) and as we are retired, most of our average 9kWh per day usage (pre-EV) is during the daytime. I’m not comfortable with using the big appliances such as washing machine and tumble drier whilst we’re in bed, although I do sometimes put the dishwasher on last thing before bed.

Anyways, nice to see the thread is still alive!

Pleasant motoring to all, EV or ICE.
