I read your post and comments as I’m planning to buy my (deceased) partners mobility car in the next week but can’t buy if I don’t have insurance in place. I was the sole named driver on my partners RSA policy and we’ve had motability cars for over 10 years. I’ve had scary prices quoted for insurance (around £800-900) due to trouble with the ncd aspect as I’ve had to give 0 years ncd. I tried Churchill online, they wouldn’t let me proceed with a quote online because I hadn’t already bought the car! Direct Line’s quote was over £900 and nowhere, on any site, was I able to find an option for NCD Motability. I’m still waiting for a quote from Adrian Flux which is currently my last hope. Putting in ‘ex company car’ didn’t help either with the prices quoted. RSA only say that they ‘may’, not ‘will’ provide ncd proof and I might have to try to get that from their Data Protection office for a small fee. Nothing is straight forward these days.
