You are welcome Harry. Sadly, good dealers who keep their customers updated frequently are in the minority, We were lucky with ours but have had poor service from several (VW) dealers in the past. Over the years I have discovered that some dealerships have poor sales people but good service departments and vice-versa. It’s worth remembering that you only deal with the sales people until the car arrives!
As you will know, if you start all over again you will have a very long wait, whatever you order. What I would be doing in your situation is making sure that the dealer has actually ordered your car with the manufacturer. Anything showing on the Motability website is not confirmation that an order has been placed, just that Motability has authorised that the dealership can do so. Any dates are just a guess based on what the dealer has inputted. These are rarely accurate.
Depending on the manufacturer, you should be able to get a tracking number once an order has been placed with the manufacturer. Unfortunately, many dealers don’t place the order for many months after the customer thinks they have ordered, as they don’t have any available build allocations left for that model. This issue crops up continuously on this forum, yet dealers will rarely, if ever, own up to this as they want your business. It only becomes apparent when someone else has ordered the same car and gets it much quicker, this always being down to one dealer having immediately available build allocations at the point of ‘order’ and another having to wait several months until they are able secure any.
