Yup, you read that right. Free money. Didn’t have to do anything either and it may be more before the end of the day.
I just ordered my next car, sat back and Motability are paying for and installing a EV charge point at my home for me. And they would currently do the same for you when you order an EV. Whats not to like?
Oh and the hand controls have a discount of £500 as well.
And my PA is now free to add to the insurance which saves me £200.
So thats at least £800 for the charge point, £500 for hand controls and £200 for insurance. Add in the GCB of £600 and that takes it to over two grand! Brilliant.

Good choice of car, and good to hear some positive words too. All the (admittedly justifiable) negativity really clouds the mood here.
You getting an Ohme or a Pulse?
January 9, 2022 at 4:12 am #173833BP Pulse are on the case, and so far, it has been excellent. First class service from BP. I am amazed as I was expecting to be disappointed. Mind you, it hasn’t been installed yet!!

Well, fingers crossed bud. I don’t have any personal experience (we have to pay out of pocket for our charger due to PHEV not being covered by Motability, so we’re going with something else entirely, we’ll go with an Easee One) with any chargers, can only relay what i’ve read here so far – and you seem to be aware of it too, so as i said: all the best, good luck. Keep us updated.
Did you get to choose, or did they choose for you?
January 9, 2022 at 4:23 am #173837I begged a few times not to have a BP Pulse. But alas, it was thrust upon me. So far, it seems BP have upped their game. Just need VW to do the same!! Shame the PHEVS are not covered, what have you got on order?

January 9, 2022 at 4:27 am #173838Sigh.. Really needs an auto login, kinda pointless to have a signature and constantly forget to login lol.
Golf GTE with a few extras sprinkled. We actually test drove and decided on the ID3 Max, but then (for the fun of it, really) after a GTE test drive we were immediately sold on the GTE.
What lead time did you get quoted?
Prior: SEAT Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5 TSI DSG MY19, VW Golf GTE PHEV DSG MY23
Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate
Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.January 9, 2022 at 4:33 am #173839Lead time. I think it was not formally given. I knew before I ordered that six months would be optimistic and thats what the dealer said.
The Golf GTE is heck of a car, very nice.

January 9, 2022 at 4:38 am #173840Yeah we did ask, and got quoted 6 months.
Ordered 10th of nov last year, and received an email this week with an (unconfirmed) build date for week 23, or beginning of june. Close enough, fingers crossed.
Here’s to hope, i guess.
And yes, the Golf did impress us. There’s a few niggly bits (steering wheel buttons, sigh), but in total we were rather impressed with the amount of “go”, and the fact that everything is smart (predictive cruise control etc). 120mpg for a 80 mile journey with a bit of hooning, and most of our journeys (like more than 95%) are within electric range. Mostly though, we did two test drives with the GTE, and the first one had 13.000 miles on the clock – 5000 more than our current car, and it felt brand new. Nothing rattled, squeaked or anything, no noises whatsoever. Our Ateca sounds like it’s just being held together by bubble gum and duct tape now, with rattles from every direction.
Which ID3 did you order?

Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.January 9, 2022 at 4:45 am #173841Just updated my sig. We ordered the Max at the beginning of November 21. I haven’t heard anything personal from the dealer. My wife is dreading going over to EV, I just love the gadgets and, sorry to rub it in, the home charger being installed was a clincher for me. It is going to have to be done at some stage and I am very happy that Motability are paying for it. You’ll know how much that saves!

January 9, 2022 at 4:53 am #173843We get bi-weekly updates from our saleslady, so far quite impressed with the service and courtesy. We didn’t go to our closest VW dealer (the guy we met there for our ID3 test drive became kinda douchy when we mentioned that it’s gonna be a Mota car – so we took our business elsewhere), already have confirmation for courtesy cars when necessary, on top they’ll mount our dashcam for us (in the Golf, as well as the ID3 i’d assume, the rear hatch trim has to come off if you want to mount a rear camera and hide the wire, has to go through a watertight grommet). They even offered hard wiring, but we stick with the 12V in the boot.
Yeah, having a free charger certainly is a knockout argument, we’re currently quoted £600 through Octopus for a Wallbox Pulsar, or £700 for the Easee One through a local company. Does hurt, admittedly, but what can you do.
We had range anxiety too, but once we grasped the fact that “the long charging time” only applies to a full charge, and not a 100 mile top up if necessary, that became way less of an issue. The AR-HUD in the ID3 is great, only thing that i’d love to see in the GTE too, we had to pay extra for a normal HUD.
Alas, can’t have it all – you didn’t pay for the charger, but we have the more comfy seats. 😛
edit: what colour? And, optional wheels?
