First time poster, long time stalker :/

just thought I’d share my experience with you all and hope for some responses (preferably relating) because I have had the worst experience.
In October I went to apply for a vehicle on the scheme (ford) and got there only to realise/be told that I had 9 months left of pip not the 12 months. Ok fine I’ll ring DWP blah blah blah. Not until MARCH was I reassessed … and as you know the coronavirus entered the U.K. around jan/Feb and was well under way around March / April. So then April 1st motability close the scheme. 🙂 ok there’s a pandemic going on I get it. So the DWP letter came back Mid May, has the allowance (was lowered on daily living but last week I got it back after mandatory reconsideration, was 1 point off) Anyway so July comes and the scheme opens again and the car I wanted so much is now stock units only, which there aren’t any within a 500 mile radius….. so July 2nd I finally placed an application at Audi. The man was nice and it took About 10 minutes. The application was approved 2 working days later, but no contact from dealer ?? (MAIN BITS NOW) 5 more days pass by so I decide to ring him myself and ask, and he says he “hasn’t received it on his end yet” ok weird….. I defiantly have….. THEN TODAY I get a call off him being passive aggressive saying we only contact you when the vehicle is here, there’s nothing else for me to tell you etc. (Probably because I emailed Someone telling them he hadn’t called) He said the car will be built in 2 weeks and then 2/3 weeks delivery. No mention of a tracking number and by the sounds of it I’ll get a pleasant phone call mid august, and silence until then :D. So yeah, that’s my FULL experience in as much detail as I can provide. Please let me know of any experiences you’ve had. If you’ve read this far I appreciate it a lot, I‘ll have waited 11 months for this car (IF it’s on time) so I am a little excited. 🙂

That’s about normal Sam, some sales people only want your name on the order and then they blow cold.
some unscrupulous salespeople will tell you all sorts of BS to get you to sign so it’s best to do as much research as you can.

Just remember to hang onto your PIN number on collection day until you are  completely happy with the car and it has all the things you were told it would by the dealer.
Don’t let the salesman have it until then.

I was fortunate enough to find the car I wanted in stock at the Cambridge Skoda dealership, put the order in 10 days ago and pick it up tomorrow, it would have been sooner if the DWP hadn’t cocked things up.

Salesmen/Saleswomen/Salespeople/Salesdolphins? are a special breed of people I think. The clue is in the name, they’ll be your best friend right up until that order is placed and then good luck hearing from them again. If at all possible the easiest way to speak to anyone is to go into the dealership. They have to talk to you then when you’re stood in front of their desk just looking at them.

Yup, pretty much spot on, even when our Ford was delayed by 3 months it was like trying to get blood out of a stone to get an update.

To be fair, some car makers don’t give lots of info to the dealerships, so they are nearly as in the dark as you are, the computer says its in the system and thats pretty much it. The Citroen sales guy showed me this on their system, its in production queue, its in build…thats it. no forecast dates, no updates, nada.

SamMobile – Just really really bad timing, dealing with DWP, then COVID and then motability shuts down and hibernates.

You cannot blame the salesperson, they input the details into the order and its up to the manufacturer from there. He cant see where your order is going.  Until the dealership are informed that there is a delivery due, with order numbers attached, only then will thew motability guy contact you with a timescale.  Until all manufacturers have a tracking system where you can view your order, it really is pot luck.

After reading a few posts on here on how the ‘customers’  abuse the salesperson, am surprised the salespersons are so nice.

No other marketplace can you order a piece of kit costing £31,000 and then cancel it on a whim.  Do this too often and no surprise dealerships will demand a 1000 deposit.

                Motability is a privilege.

It is not your privilege to abuse the chain of people who  manage this scheme with ignorance.

I’m on my 6th vehicle and never had any correspondence from any dealership until it’s due to be picked up.

Sometimes get an update due to having my plates transferred to the new vehicle

The vehicle can’t be registered until it is actually on British soil so I get a heads up when they are transferring the plates usually about a week before handover

But this time we are having a stock car so it is already with the dealership and just waiting for handover date in September
