I suspect the skill gap between me and Sabine is more of a chasm than a gap š
Of course I wouldnāt take the mb car on the actual track, Iām looking at ring taxis with a friend but Iām more wondering if I would be alright for the road trip down there.
thanks for the concern though, sarcasm in text is a notoriously difficult thing. Haha
Hiya all, hope you’re all enjoying the JCW,Ā I know I am.
Has anyone found a good way to clean the wheels around the huge brembos? hahaAlso a motability insurance question: some friends are talking about a Nürburgring road trip, seems a little cheeky but I don’t see any reasons in the documentation I wouldn’t be allowed on a toll road?
ask for forgiveness rather than permission?
maybe be very sensible and just park up and get a ring taxi round..
Hey!
im still loving the JCW, best decision I ever made, sure you are still loving it too.I had a slight issue with the windows rattling and being unable to take it to the dealerās because of the recall.
I found out on a fb group that the window seals get a little tough sometimes causing a rattle. And that the unofficial bmw fix was to use āgummi pfledgeā all over the seals which soften them up. Sorted the rattle straight away!
Iām unsure of how electric hot hatches are going to work. Most electric cars have boatloads of torque and horsepower.
The new electric Abarth has gone for loud fake engine noise to make up for it and Iām not convinced. Also: if you were thinking of getting a strap like this, I would steer clear of these rubber ones, not durable at all.
Hey all,
I think the heat has caused a rattle in my drivers side mirror thatās driving me mad!
I called up the dealer to see if I could get it looked at but Iāve been told thereās a recall on my car and they canāt fix it yet but if they do a diagnostic they legally canāt give it back to me until itās fixed!been told to put up with the rattle until they call me to come in for the recall.
maybe worth contacting your dealer to ask if thereās a recall on yours and if they have a plan.
So thereās been a massive delivery hold on all new Minis due to a faulty knock sensor, as this was the last year they are building the f56 this might be the end for motability orders until the new model is out next year?
Once they get the sensors fitted to the held stock, there might be a bunch suddenly available for immediate delivery? Who knows.
Its going to be slow either way.
Mini have released that theyāll stop making the current f56 mini in March next year, that might be a factor?
I was able to order and drive away with one within 4 days by finding one in stock.
it didnāt have the premium plus pack but it had the 17s, privacy glass, and a great colour so with my current insurance about to run out I nabbed it.
It also seems like if the car was made in an earlier run it may be missing features like electronic handbrake and heads up display but I donāt care at all. I love the thing.each mini dealership uses the same stock checker so by changing the url you can actually check the stock of any dealership. I found mine about 45 minutes from my parents that way.
Yeah it seems really solid, itās basically the same vinyl wrap stuff but cut to the exact width. I used a hairdryer to remove one or two bubbles.
Iāll be careful for a bit with the pressure washer but as it fits flush I canāt imagine it picking up.
Thanks!
yeah still love it, every now and then I roll down the windows and flick it in sport mode and I canāt stop grinning.I also just got a new iPhone and the apple CarPlay is brilliant!
Well I finally got the belt line done!
it took me a couple hours and itās not perfect but its only Ā£20 of vinyl tape and Iām not a professional.
it was pretty easy just a matter of taking your time!I think it really changes the car!
of course if you have the luxury of ordering from factory you should just pick the free option but if you wanna change what youāve got itās super cost effective.
Love it every day.
Im 5’5 so not sure if I’ll be much help but my seat is I think just off the bottom with my steering wheel adjusted so I can just see the JCW logo on the top of the instrument cluster below the top of the steering wheel.
In the back of my chair I can just see the right headlight bump and if I lean forward I can just see the washer fluid jets.
It’s ethermatic black, looks like a lovely blue in certain lights.
The beltline tape and stubby arial were from smp. About £20 I think.
All cleaned and waxed š still loving it every day, still haven’t done the beltline as I need to run an extension out the window for the hairdryer.
Looks ace!
Amazing how it looks so different to mine, changes the character!
Hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am, few things that took me a while to get used to were the indicators, infotainment system control knob and learning where the buttons are so I don’t have to look down, and just how quick it is off the line!
I played about with the seating position quite a bit too, high so you can easily see the bonnet is nice but then the mirror blocks a lot of your view and its tough to see traffic lights sometimes, if you can get nice and low the visibility is great.
Apparently the roll of tape is enough for 1.5 cars so we will see!
I’m fairly sure I saw some premium plus with non adaptive and manual handbrakes ?
Maybe this Monday if the weather’s good, if you don’t see photos, assume I messed it up.
No electric handbrake on mine but heard that varys, just premium.
Just got off the phone with motability and RSA, they’re happy for me to add the dechroming tape on the beltline!
I think they removed adaptive as an option because of chips, it comes with standard and limiter as standard.
I know it’s no issue with motability but we’ve all heard stories of insurance becoming invalid because of silly reasons
I bought a roll of the beltline tape but got worried about insurance issues, so need to call up RSA to make sure its okay at some point.
I wasn’t told anything about running in procedure so I’ve just been careful to not push it too hard and let it warm up with care, probably only put my foot down a handful of times on slip roads and out the toll gates to impress the passengers haha, blink and you’re at 70.
in terms of anywhere exciting, I’ve done snakes pass a few times last week to watch the snooker but always seem to catch the person in front too quickly hah.
Planning a trip to ireland soon!
Im running the 17s and the ride isnt too harsh, road noise is a bit loud on rough motorways.
I prefer them on my all-black mini and they show the big red Brembo brakes well. but its a free option, it makes sense that the 17s would ride a little nicer but the 18s have a more premium look to them. Personal taste I think!the standard ones it came with actually feel great quality, didn’t feel the need to change as I hoover quite often.
