Sorry to hear about your awful experience.

Sounds like almost the same problems I had with my iD4. Hope your next choice on or off the scheme brings you joy and much less stress.

@DumfriesDik, thank you. My order has options added so I doubt the cancelled orders will match but I’ll take a look just in case.

iD.4 has made me very risk averse so going for XC40. Being so close to stranded when I could not charge has pushed me back to Ice for now.

I love the idea and cost of electric (even in winter) but I can’t go through the stress again until tech become a little more mature.

            My saga ends.

So after a few return trips to the dealer who found nothing wrong, I sent video to motability who were as brilliant as ever. The car is finally being returned and I can start again.

Just to add to the list, roof now creaks very loudly, emergency braking still has a vendetta and is still trying to kill me, charger port opens when it feels like it, keyless entry needs a key as door sensors have stopped sensing, charging mostly doesn’t and tells me find another charger or refer to manual, screen still locks up, various functions still turn themselves on and I’m so relieved to see the back of it.

Don’t make the same mistake as I did. Avoid iD.4 and Peter Cooper VW Portsmouth. It’ll only end in tears!

I’d have rejected a car with all those issues.

Agreed, as I advised on May 30th, should the dealer fail to sort it out in June.

As Motability offered to meet the cost of repair if the dealer refused and as the ‘software glitches’ have been acknowledged by VW and a fix is being worked on (allegedly) and I actually like the car I don’t feel that’s an option.

My point is not to slate the car but more to warn others about using Peter Cooper if they are in the Portsmouth area.

                Probably the last update.

Raised a complaint on Peter Cooper Volkswagen as directed. Except the email address they supply is for the Bognor bodyshop! Poor love at other end didn’t have a clue what was going on after a few back and forths. Eventually Motability stepped in and today I had an email from Peter Cooper Portsmouth denying all liability. Nothing to do with them. So may people saw the car so it would have been picked up, I had been given a comprehensive handover, etc. My handover was showing me the sat nav, radio and how to put it in gear. YouTube taught me how to charge the thing!

So now I have to go to the Financial Ombudsman. Nothing better to do I suppose. Bright side is VW UK are quite interested in how Peter Cooper have conducted this poop show.

Moral of the story: avoid Peter Cooper Portsmouth if you want a VW. And take someone tall and able bodied to check the car!

                  Quick update:

Car went in to garage for the various glitches, service guy looked at the chip and said it looks like a manufacturing fault as no impact mark. He was concerned that people were getting stuck when back doors would not open on passenger side. Did tell me that various issues like lights, steering wheel, seats and info screen were known to VW and they are working on fixes. I should not bother trying apple phones as they have hardware issues!

On call back he changed his mind about the chip claiming a microscopic mark has been found by the service manager… Also nothing wrong with rear door. I must have such an imagination! Wife could not get out again when we tried at home.

VW garage (Peter Cooper Group Portsmouth) called me again after a formal complaint was raised to blame me for chip in roof. Quite abrupt and “definitely not the garage, we would have spotted it.” I was right about them washing their hands.

Motability have escalated so now back to waiting. They have been great throughout and assured me the it will be sorted.

@phaedra; thanks, I assume all dealers do until proved wrong. I’ll give your fixes a go.
