Hi Chris
The S/S on the Tig works virtually every time once its up to normal running temperature. I have noticed that I only have to nudge the steering wheel and it will restart which was never the case on the Sharan.
One of the best things (IMO) on the Tiguan and also it is on the Touran is the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) it is is fantastic in stop start or slow moving traffic jams. It does everything by its self as it will brake for you and accelerate when the vehicle in front moves off.

Your start stop is sounding like the Kia does not trust itself to restart lol.
The Tigs rear seats slide forward about 8 inches but leaves no legroom at all for rear seat passengers. It also leaves a void between the rear of the seat and the floor of the rear. I’ve have made a couple of flaps that fold down to cover themat void
It’s weird that there still seems to be problems in delivery of the Touran, like I say the one I ordered was delivered to the dealer in mid November

Just a little note to say I got to see the Touran I ordered as it arrived at the dealer about 2 months ago.
It looked good in the White Silver,

I have the SEL, I have driven the R Line but found the SEL a little better for comfort. You are right the R Line does have sports suspension and of course the 20″ alloys.
The SEL this,
Front sport seats with 14-way adjustable
driver’s ergoComfort seat including
cushion tilt adjustment, backrest and
thigh support, with electric adjustment
for lumbar support and massage function
– in lieu of driver’s under seat drawer. You have more adjustment and I find them very comfortable.
Of course this is my own opinion and I am sure R Line owners will speak highly of their vehicle.

I am not defending the RAC one little bit as I would be the first to have a go at them but I can assure you that this happens with all organisations and has done for years but it is becoming more known due to social media. I saw some nightmare incidents in my 21 years and not only RAC.

Thank you for your kind words.
Over my years there I have deployed RAC patrols in every part of the UK and Ireland. I loved the job until a computer started taking over and I am afraid that is where it falls flat. A computer cannot see things such the human element in all of it.

On order Skoda Enyaq 85X Sportline PlusAuto Aid will be an organisation that solely use contractors (local garages). Motability choose the RAC as they have a patrol network and I know that patrols fix more vehicles at the roadside than contractors. Contractors want to get you back to their premises so as to try and fix it and then you are talking labour charges whereas the AA and RAC do not charge for this if a patrol carries out the repair.
I am hearing that all these cars we are getting through Motability still carry their MotorMan contracts (Breakdown cover through the manufacturer) and if I am right the AA cover Ford.
The only thing about calling another breakdown company to a Motability car is that it can cause problems when further services of the membership Motability cars get through the scheme.
I would love to see the NotePad of you job. It would make for very interesting reading.

On order Skoda Enyaq 85X Sportline PlusThis whole thing does happen unfortunately and it happens with every breakdown organisation. It is not an excuse and you are right it is deplorable. The thing with both the RAC and the AA have are patrols and these patrols cost a lot of money so therefore the aim is for patrols to do everything they possibly can. If the patrols equipment was up to the job it was designed for he would have sorted this out but the wait was far to long for the location of your vehicle plus also being a Motabilty customer. I would of hoped that your breakdown would have carried some form of priority as to
1, you location and 2, being a Motability customer.
I would be asking what classification was this job (sorry that’s what we called them) given and if was given a high priority why the system totally over looked this priority job. I know they will come back with a load of excuses but one thing they cannot come back with is the weather as it has been not what I call a weather related day.
I speak with a little knowledge on this matter as I worked for the RAC for 21 years not as a patrol but on the deployment of the patrols. By the sounds of this and other complaints we have recently heard about via BBC Watchdog it seems as if the structure has changed since I departed from the RAC. Keeping customers updated at the time I was there was paramount and set we had then on the whole worked.

I would never trust the ACC completely. My right foot was constantly hovering around the brake as you need to do this with some of the idiots you get out there on the roads. I will say because the car was doing all the work it does take the stress out of stop/start traffic on a motorway.
My ex Touran order is still being built as my dealer has promised it to another dealer as they had helped them out with another order.

On order Skoda Enyaq 85X Sportline PlusIt is a bit ironic. If I had the Touran still on order It could well have been here this year as it starts its build from the 12th of this month.
I must admit though the Tiguan is a lovely car. Took it down the M62 to Manchester over the last couple of days and the ACC is a dream. From when I got on the M60 at Manchester till I turned off the A63 at the Humber Bridge I never touched one pedal. And that was travelling through the Leeds area at rush hour this morning.

Well it sounds like it is going to be the car for you and with the minor hiccups you will get there. When it comes to getting things working in the right way I find that comes with trial and error. I am still finding things on my Tiguan. I use Android Auto through USB. As for my music I have got that on a SD card as the Tiguan also has a SD card slot. The voice function on the Tiguan is not connected (it was an option with VW) but the button works on Android Auto so that is great. It looks as if Android Auto Wireless is built in to the new Pixel phones as I know my Galaxy S9+ does not have it. The sat nav is not too bad on the VW and especially that you can send a destination from either a laptop, tablet or mobile. If your sat nav is Tom Tom can you download the speed cameras in to is or does that come through via the internet connection via your mobile?
It sounds to me that your car needed to settle in and it may possibly setting itself up to your driving style. i know you have to go a long way to beat the VW DSG and especially the 7 speed DSG. I am finding the 7 speed far smoother to the 6 speed DSG I had in the Sharan. My brother is a Kia person. He has had a few Sportage and now he has got a Niro. He drove mine last week and said the Tiguan a little smoother than the Sportage. A good place to try your car out would be Porlock hill. I took mune up Rosedale Chimney Bank on the North Yorks Moors which is a 33% gradient and it flew up it.
Your journey brings back memories of when I lived in Bristol as it was a great place to get down to Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset.

On order Skoda Enyaq 85X Sportline PlusThe AA were always a little bit more advanced than the RAC which is ironic really as the RAC is the oldest of the 2.
One thing the RAC is more up to the mark with is that all their patrols at one time were all City and Guilds trained mechanics whereas the AA took anyone and train them in house.

On order Skoda Enyaq 85X Sportline PlusWhat I can see of the app it does not report a breakdown. I have not tried it but it looks as if you have to call them. If you do the telephone number that generates will be the standard jo public number, in saying that anyine should be able to take a Motability call if not they will pass you on to someone who can.
Of course the Motability contract has a scheme number which we as Motability customers do not need as the registration number is our membership number as the scheme is what is know as “Vehicle Based Membership”

On order Skoda Enyaq 85X Sportline PlusThe Watchdog programme showed people who had broken down got a patrol and then had to wait for a recovery truck. Now this has been a problem in all the years I have been driving. Mainly all recoveries are contracted out to a network of garages. The RAC’s point of view is once they have passed that recovery on to a contractor it is the contractors responsibility to manage that work. i.e. keep people informed and that has never worked in years I was in that line of business.

Firstly I am not saying the RAC are brilliant because they are not but these cases of people waiting ages has gone on for years and to today with social media the way it is these stories spread like wild fire.
Within the RAC each area has a deployer he is in control of the breakdowns within their area they are covering. It is they aim to manage that workload with the resources they have at hand and on exceptional busy days i.e. bad weather in rush hour it is a nightmare to control. Unfortunately the RAC now relies on a computer to dispatch breakdowns to a patrol and still to this day it cannot do it as well as a human and I would challenge anyone from the RAC who said differently.
Breakdowns are marked with a classification code. Life threatening being the highest of course which we never saw many of thankfully but the next highest was what we called an LFM (lone female) if an area where they thought they were at risk. The next was a motorway breakdown. When I was there it was the aim to get to motorway breakdowns within 30 mins. Often that went over due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. the next classification down was classed as a “priority “. Now Motabilty vehicles which had broken down away from there home address were classed within this category (Unless the need for a higher classification was needed). Like I said all Motability jobs were incident managed by a dedicated table for Motability only and it would be these incident managers chasing the deployment tables to get the Motability jobs sent out to patrols. So if Motability customers are being kept waiting I would say that there is a lack of incident management for Motability breakdowns.
I will say the AA are equally as bad as the RAC as they both have employed patrols. So of course they want all these patrols to carry out the workload and not to contract any breakdowns out to the network of contractors under the breakdown network. So it is all down to cost and keeping those costs within each organisation so as to keep shareholders happy.

I left 9 years ago now but when I was there it created problems with procedures i.e. hire cars etc if other breakdown organisations got involved. At one time if the car was covered under the manufacturers whichever breakdown organisation got a call and it was a Motability vehicle they would transfer the call to RAC Motability.
Things may have changed but I thought I would mention it.
