Motability site says “You Have Extended Your Lease” – eh?

      When I log into Motability, this is what I see:

      Extended Lease

      Does this mean I can hand back now?  I don’t remember extending, though my 1st lease may have been while waiting for new car.  Does anyone else’s account look like this?  What does it mean?

      I have new car waiting but thought I couldn’t collect until September.

        i think its because you are into your final 3 months. usually when you place an order for your new lease the dealer adds an expected pick up date usually the last date of your old lease. if youve already ordered a new car i reckon hes not done that. is the new order registered on your motability account?

          Apart from saying ‘you have an application in progress’ the dealer has the car there, ready to go, but we both thought I couldn’t do it until Sept 27th.

          I have my PIN, have been sent my complimentary BP Pulse activation email, copy of the agreement and all the new car details are filled in – all stuff you wouldn’t normally get until nearer the end of your lease… look:

            No, if you collect your new vehicle before the three year anniversary on your current lease, you could be looking at an early termination fee and a reduced good condition bonus on your current vehicle.

              Thats what I thought – still doesn’t explain why it says I’ve extended – I haven’t – yet I found this info about my current lease:

              I didn’t make this extension!  It says extended until 29th Sept – 2 days after my lease should end.  I will call them tomorrow to see whats going on, but this is odd. And why have I been sent all this stuff early? Wasn’t like this last time!

                My parents have ordered a stock Kona electric, with a start date of 22nd August but is shwing on their online account as an extension on their current lease.

                Its probably standard protocol they are extending current leases, given the times some manufacturers are quoting. Also remember the 4 day rule!

                  Ah!

                  Thanks you – That makes sense!  Is it just me, or are these things this confusing for anyone else?  If I followed the advice on my account I’d arrange to hand back tomorrow lol

                    I think its just a clerical error with staff working from home with their minds more on Netflix than the job in hand. 😁
