I have 2024 Skoda Enyaq Coupe. Is it possible that Motability will allow me to retrofit a wheelchair hoist in the car?

My walking has become really unsteady and I cannot walk more than a few yards without the danger of falling.

Possibly but I don’t think the coupe has the clearance for one.

Possibly if you pay for it yourself (no harm in asking), but Motability have an odd policy that if you get to the point that you need adaptations they let you order a brand new car. We had an odd situation years ago where we had a 12 month old car, my wife then needed push-pull controls, we said we were happy with the car and were happy to have them fitted, but they said we should order a brand new car. We ordered exactly the same car again and they paid for the adaptations 🤔

We’re in the same boat with the Enyaq estate. They do let you retrofit as they have two prices, one price for retrofit and one cheaper price for a new car fit. You can apply for a grant if you qualify, we dont and are looking at £1500.

I think Motability retro fit adaptions policy is you can have them fitted after delivery of a new car but you will have to pay the adaption company the full, unsubsidised price.

Its something I’m wary of because of increased cost of disabled driving I try to cut corners and get cheaper adaption but it can, and does, backfire sometimes. As an instants I’m about to try one of the indicator extension adaption that, if it works, can save me hundreds of £’s each lease. This adaption is free on MB but, although I’ve not finished with my trial, it doesn’t look like its going to work for me.

So with that in mind, had I ordered a car with the free adaption and without knowing if it works or not I would have to go back to MB and ask for the adaption I tried to save money on in the first place, that being about £470 and then have to pay the full price that I believe to be about £1,200.
