VW Delivery Times – Typical or Not?

Just been told Tayron build time is 8 months! So order now and get just in time for end of lease – which I could do because it would be an early termination.

How do people go on if they’re only allowed 3 months before being allowed to order? Particularly, if it’s true, that extending is now frowned upon?

Manufacturers are really taking the mickey out of Scheme users. Or are lead times the same for their retail customers?

I’ll try a Skoda Kodiaq next and see if they can get me one before next Christmas!!

Might just be the dealer (Lookers) having more customers than build slots.

Hopefully, Super Rick at Group1One Manchester (formerly Inchcape) will make more sense of it. He’s sold us Sharan and Tiguan Allspace before going over to the dark side and buying Darth Vaders helmet (CX60).

Quite obviously, lead times are the same. The factory doesn’t know what kind of person the car goes to.

You order in “your order window”. If you order a car that has a longer lead time, you stay in your current car until you pick the new one up. It’s not an extension.

For reference, we waited 15 months for our GTE.

Prior: SEAT Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5 TSI DSG MY19, VW Golf GTE PHEV DSG MY23
            Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate
            Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.

              Hi,

We have recently purchased privately from Lookers Skoda. A batch of  SE L were on the boat and delivered two weeks later. The quote for an SE with essential, to us, packs was 23 weeks. Like you, had an Allspace SEL and two Tourans on MB and the Kodiaq is a most agreeable and plusher feeling car. The rotary smart dials are far superior to those ghastly touchy slider rubbish on the Tiguan/Tayron – in my experience. Well worth a visit to Lookers.

I don’t think my VW ID3 was typical at 18 months! The Skoda Enyaq was much quicker, but I doubt it was within three months, but not far off it.

I hope your car arrives PDQ

Did you order a diesel Tayron? When I went to VW to look at it, I was told the diesel Tayron has massive delays.

We ordered a Tayron eHybrid Elegance with NO extras.

We ordered on the 5th June 2025.

We weres told yesterday that our car has arrived in the UK, and should be at the dealers on Monday/Tuesday.

We are expecting to pick this up on the morning of Saturday 13th September 2025.

I make that just over 3 months which is amazing!

I suspect if you order a standard model without any extras , then the chance of getting it sooner is more likely.

Elegance Diesel ordered with no extras so possibly why I got a 3/4 month delivery time.

Just had it confirmed, Diesel Tayron is an absolute non starter unless you order now and wait a year.  THAT IS UNLESS you’re a retail customer, where there are a few around in stock at various dealers waiting for a customer!

So there is a tangible difference between retail and Motability consumers purchasing experience!

Always has been, plus a retail customer will have prioty to filla dealerships order slots.

Maybe ask around , you might get lucky with a dealer aloowing release of a stock model!

We ordered a diesel Tayron elegance with zero adaptations in April. We are due to collect on 10th September. This has been a wait of 20 weeks. Ordered from a Group1 dealership (previously Inchcape) in the north of England. Hope this helps

                              Matthew,

Was that Rick at the Manchester branch? He was brilliant a couple of times but doesn’t seem to want to ring me back this time!

                                Hi,

No, it was Usman at the Bolton dealership. Lovely lad and does call me back although, sometimes the following day.
