Bearing in mind Motability’s quite tight restrictions on who can drive the vehicle etc, Is there any problem with using the official ‘Meet & Greet’ parking service at Manchester Airport (or any UK airport for that matter)?

Basically it means dropping the car off very close to the terminal at the ‘Meet & Greet’ parking area. They then take the car away to their secure compound somewhere. Then, when we are due back from holiday, they return the car to the Meet and Greet area ready for us to pick it up.

The service we are looking to use is the official Manchester Airport ‘Meet &  Greet’ parking service, not a third party, or ‘off airport’ one.

I just want to check it is okay to use this service with a Motability car.

Hi Mike,

I’ve used meet n greet twice now with a motability car – both times there were no problems, and if i’m honest i didn’t even think of asking motability if it was ok – I took it as the company will have fleet insurance and any mishaps will be claimed on that.

Do check the car thoroughly on your return before signing to ensure there is no damage, as once signed there won’t be much that could be done i fear.

The last time i used them i left my dash cam plugged in – footage was interesting in that after a few miles of driving they suddenly tilted the camera up to the sky and then unplugged it.  The car was also taken out of eco mode that i left it in, and put in sports mode.

I’m at the airport this coming week, and as I’ve only had the new car 3 weeks I’ve booked a car park onsite, where i park and keep my keys. I’ll do the same next summer.

Not had a problem with the meet n greet, but feel i have been lucky and it is clear their objective is to get the car to the compound in the quickest time available. Plus when you return to collect the car the last thing you want is checking the car over in fine detail – i just want to get home.

I know what you mean about wanting to get home after flying back, but I will check it over before I take over responsibility for the car.

We use the official Gatwick airport Meet and Greet. You park in the official car park and the contact point for special assistance is right there as well. We had the car valeted at the same time. Very efficient courteous service. Must admit I did worry about the insurance aspect of someone else driving.

I have sent an e-mail to Motability asking the question about using the ‘Meet & Greet’ airport parking service as I would like the response in print as opposed to verbally over the phone.

I will update the forum with Motability’s response once it is received.

No problem mike, I like to have peace of mind too, and seeing it in black and white gives you that.

I’m preparing for our flights tomorrow – though i’m making it more difficult for myself.

Went to put the car-park details in the satnav in the car and discovered a wifi feature – so connected the car to wifi and suddenly i have weather, traffic and fuel price alerts – then it wants to upload the maps – just stick the sd card in the laptop it says………… an hour later and it’s at 75%!! Not the best time to update things lol hope it completes ok, the one important time i need the satnav and i try this lol
