As part of your motability lease you had an option to lease a very high quality light weight wheel chair. I think the cost was £100 for the 3 year lease. I am not sure if you could get one if you already have a vehicle on lease.

However it is worth a phone call to mobility to see if it is possible to add one on your lease.

Lease a manual wheelchair with a Motability Scheme car

I hope the above links help. Please do give customer service a call

          Joss,  thank you.

I will look into it, but it’s not for me, but my dad, who is in his late 80s, and not on the scheme.

I need an electric wheelchair and as I had just ordered my first motability car, I called Motability ( 3 weeks ago) to ask if I could also include one of their electric wheelchairs. I was happy to pay whatever extra needed to be paid and talked to the loveliest woman at customer service.

Unfortunately, it’s either a car we can lease or a wheelchair, not both. Doesn’t matter whether it’s manual or electric. I’m still disappointed, as it seems to me that the two go hand in hand. No point me having a car without an electric wheelchair and no point having an electric wheelchair, where I live, without a car.

I’m not complaining at all, to be clear about that.

I’m absolutely delighted with the car. Just unsure about which electric wheelchair to buy, as I’ve only ever had manual chairs.

Not been able to get back to this lovely forum since I joined, due to a relapse. It’s nice to be back. I hope you got your beautiful bathroom all finished, Joss. : )

The type of powerchair is all down to your specific needs, I have 2 for different situations (one I have only done 12 miles in from new so going to sell that and get a folding one)
