      Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well, now the showrooms have been open a while what’s your test drive time limits been?

With an awarded grant, are they usually automatically applied upon successful application of vehicle or do you have to do that separately?

Thankyou for responses and have a lovely day ?

Try and get as long as you can, see if you can talk them into a full day, if not a few hours at least.

As far as know the grants people send you proof in a letter that you have a grant and how much and you give that letter to your dealer as proof , then your dealer sorts it out for you

Every dealer Iv been in contact with have only offered 20 mins maximum claiming there insurance does not cover longer due to covid. It’s putting me off getting a motability vehicle ?

I was awarded a grant late last year which has just expired by weeks although I contacted them and they said they have put an extension on it in the notes of there system, I only have an email confirmation of the award which clearly shows it’s expired. I spoke to a dealer and explained everything and he said the grant will automatically be applied without even seeing any proof ? Can only feel I’m being mucked around a bit?

That’s a total lie, 20 mins my arse. I’ve just driven both MG ev’s & was told go for it take as long as you like. Went to see the Kona & even tho I didn’t have an appt they immediately offered me a test drive again as long as I liked. The next nearest dealer said they have a set route to drive so didn’t go to them.

All this test drive garbage needs sorting out by Motability.

Motability need to sort the grants out too the way I was treated was disgusting. Told if I need heated seats to go to halfords & buy a heated cover, told you can’t choose an EV & essentially told me I’d have to have a Qashqai.

I thought that was the case, the shortest one Iv had so far was 15 mere minutes…..I didn’t even have time to try the motorway. Not sure if I should ask again but with no mention of motability, I wonder if contacting motability and informing them would make a difference.

Sorry you have had trouble with the grants team, have you spoken to someone else? I found it a bit stressful, i also need the heated seats like yourself but was told they are not things they take into consideration. I spoke to a couple of people in the end and they have been very helpful. I do hope you get the help you need soon ?

I’ve suggested to motability that lumping usall in as one homogenous mass & not considering stuff like heated seats, you know individual needs coukd be taken as discrimination, certainly made me feel awful. I actually went to bed after I got off the phone & got so stressed I got a horrendous migraine even a Sumatriptan nasal spray couldn’t stop.

They’ll take into consideration whether you have an able bodied driver under 25 even if you can drive yourself but if you need a specific piece of kit they dont care? What if you needed reach & rake steering would they refuse that too? Their definitions are crazy it’s like going back in time 40 years except there’d be a better choice & lower ap’s then lol
