I just wondered what everyones thoughts were on Techmobility and Jeff Gosling Hand Controls – I have ordered an Ioniq 5 N Line S and was quite surprised that the JG hand controls were chargeable (£99) and the Techmobility are free. I have used JG for almost 15 years and my only complaint is they can rattle .

When my wife first needed hand controls we had Jeff Gosling ones, but they drove me mad as the connecting rods were outside the steering column and whenever I drove the car I bashed my knees on them getting in and out. I assumed that they were all like this, but someone on this forum recommended a different make where the rods were fitted within the steering column so were out of the way. It was some years ago and I know that the steering wheel ball was a different manufacturer to the push pull control, but one of them was Brig Ayd. It was a far superior setup and I came to the conclusion that Jeff Gosling controls were outdated.

I’ve got the JG hand controls on my Ioniq 6 (had them in my last couple of cars too). So far they’ve been fine, yes sits a bit below the steering column but hasn’t been an issue for me or other able bodied drivers, unlike my previous MG5 where my wife hated them being in her way.

I’ve no complaints about them but I also haven’t seen any other manufacturers set up to compare against.

I didn’t pay any extra for these but I do know that some places will charge and some won’t… 🤷‍♂️ don’t know why, maybe down to individual fitter having to travel or the company looking for more business

Mrs Joe has used JG for over 30 years. We’ve been to their head office in Stockport a few times over the years and always found them fantastic to deal with. Had multiple adjustments and servicing over the years, nothing has ever been too much trouble for them.  I drive the car without issue, the controls never get in my way. She didn’t have to pay anything for them on our last car a few months ago.

I’ve had a number of hand controls over the 30 years or so I’ve been driving, but my last few have been Cowell Mobility. They’re all completely hidden in the steering column, and are completely smooth underneath with flush bolts, so nothing to catch your legs on.

I wouldn’t use anything else these days.

My installers here in the south-east are Ergomobility, which are brilliant, too.

Apart from my first car the other 5 cars I’ve had I have had JG Hand Controls and my late brother did I can’t fault them. City Motors in Cardiff been brilliant over the years.

I’ve always had JG as well! I did look at electronic options (I foget whose), but there was a delay so stuck with JG.
