Problems getting a Nissan test drive.

I first contacted my local Nissan dealership on the 15th of February, enquiring about a test drive in the Qashqai e-Power. They weren’t really interested in letting me take a car without one of their reps sitting alongside me, something I’ve never experienced before.

Since then the dealership, Bristol Street Motors, Chesterfield seem to have had nothing but excuses and as of today, I have still not managed to get a test drive. This even though they told me they had a new demonstrator e-Power available from the 1st of April.

Having read a number of posts on here where people mention that some dealerships are NOT interested in Motability customers. I’m beginning to think that’s what is happening with Bristol Street Motors in Chesterfield. Really puts you off a dealership and makes you wonder what the rest of their service is like.

I had a similar problem with my local Hyundai (Just an issue of even being interested in selling a car at all).

Unfortunately my only advice is find a Nissan dealer further away, or look at different cars altogether.

The only other thing I can add is, If you don’t like something, vote with your money.

I had the same from my local Ford dealer when I tried to test drive a Mach-E. They came up with loads of excuses that all turned out to be lies.

Do you think it was anything to do with you being a Motability customer Elliot?

Yes definitely. Once I mentioned it they came up with the excuses. One was the demonstrator was going back as it had done too many miles yet 4 months later it was still sitting outside the showroom and being used for test drives.

I tend to go soley as a customer in the first instance. Once I have narrowed my choice down, only then do I go back and suggest I’m a Motability customer. I find doing this way alot easier!

If there was anything I was uncertain about on my initial test drives, I will often request an extended test drive on Motability’s insurance. DLM allow 24hrs but, has to be arranged via the dealer with DLM. However, I have always took the car back after 3-4 hours anyway. FWIW RSAM use to allow up to 48hrs.
