      Hi there

I have had my current car 2 months , at times I am finding the driving seat not supportive enough and in quite a bit more pain at times when driving.

I have never test drove the car before pickup, due to needing hand controls fitted, and obviously, no one will fit hand controls test drive, so not insured to drive. i had sat in the passenger side ( whilst been taken out ) multiple times and found that comfy, but you can have the chair in a  totally different position than when driving.

With my other cars , i have just been lucky and found them all really comfy without driving before pickup.

Would it be worth ringing Motability about this, if ( i assume would be a big if)  it was possible to change the car, I assume if they agreed, I would not get back any of the advanced payment ?

      Many thanks

Yes it will be and also can you get to one of the one big day events as there will be the chance to try cars with hand controls there ( they usually have a big test arena you can drive around in)

          Hi Garys

I tried to get a test drive in a Ford Kuga last summer at the Exeter Big Day and arrived about 5 hours before the close of play only to be told by the girl on the desk there was no chance as it was fully booked for that day. It was only luck that at that time it was the Kuga I was interested in but besides not able to test drive without adaptions most cars are not available to drive anyway though you may be lucky they have one on display but so does my local showroom.

I just hope it wasn’t fully booked with able drivers who drive disabled persons as they can test drive anywhere but hay ho.

When I ordered my current car that I’m waiting for the sales guy asked if I had had a test drive because it asks on the application form because Motability say you should test drive but as myself33 points out that is impossible for many of us but Motability just shrugs its shoulders over this problem and yet it is a big problem that they should be and are fully aware of.

Call Motability they are very approachable, and if they allow you to change you get the AP back on a pro-rata basis, you don’t get the good condition bonus and they may charge you a £250 Early changing fee.

If you are otherwise happy with the car, is it possible to get the seat modified?  Or would Motability not allow it?

The problem for you is that you may have the same problem in sent car you choose.
