I ordered a Peugeot 208 around a month ago and I was told that the vehicle should arrive in around 12 weeks time. I received an email from Peugeot Motability yesterday stating that due to a world shortage of cars there may be delays in getting the vehicle. Is this normal practice and to be expected?
If I did decide to cancel the vehicle because of this delay would I still be liable for the cancellation admin fee?

I maybe lucky but ordered my Peugeot 208 136 gt Automatic on feb 9th and it was delivered to me on April 4th so very quick delivery it was in the port of Spain the week before delivery.

I don’t see how they can charge you a cancellation fee for a standard car, with no factory fit options.
May 30, 2024 at 2:34 pm #278680Tiny tim – Same car that I ordered 136GT. Are you happy with the car?
I don’t want to cancel unless the delays are for months.

this website says 2 months wait time for a Peugeot 208
May 30, 2024 at 11:35 pm #278719Interesting that it states that there is just a 2 months waiting list. Could it be because I have chosen the 136 GT Automatic?
May 31, 2024 at 9:10 am #278730No I have the Twin Clutch Auto 6 speed it maybe that many Manufacturers want to push EVS and now that people and demand has ceased for EVS I was first asked do I want the 208 EV and I said no so stick to your guns if you want the Hybrid.
May 31, 2024 at 9:18 am #278731I want to say it can depend on the dealer you go to as to when you may get any car and it is hard to get any Guarantee when you get your car but I was told 4 months as they are coming through quicker now it is the 2024 Petrol hybrid launch as said I ordered mine in Feb and got it in April so that was Quick. Just to say it is worth waiting unless you shop around Peugeot dealers and find one in stock or waiting at port or cancelled order you maybe lucky.
July 1, 2024 at 10:16 am #283540Looks like the GT electric has increased to an AP of £1299 so pleased I ordered it last quarter.
August 2, 2024 at 10:41 am #286096I am still awaiting the vehicle which was due this week. After contacting Peugeot Motability they cannot give a delivery date and stated that the only update information they have is that the build date is October, but this is always subject to change.
I am now considering cancelling the car and purchasing a car privately especially since I sold my car a few weeks ago.
Because of these excessive delays will I have to pay an admin fee if I did decide to cancel?

No! Just cancel the car with the dealer or Motability, sighting excessive delays, with no future build date but, you don’t need to give a reason if you don’t want to.

Hi, you pay nothing.
It’s part of the motability deal for obvious reasons, that we pay nothing and can walk away at anytime up to putting in the pin.
At that point and after you have signed the agreement and are in the contract.
However up until then you can walk away with no penalty.
August 2, 2024 at 12:08 pm #286104I have a Peugeot E 3008 GT on order. I ordered it in February and my dealer has had no further information on its build status yet. I phone the dealer rep once a month in case there is news, but it seems that the Stellantis group have switched dealerships to agency status, so they are no longer kept in the “manufacturing” loop.
I’m fortunate that my current low mileage Peugeot 3008 GT hybrid is still a very comfortable car to drive, so I’m content to wait.
I sympathise with your plight cjazzman. The delay in your case is an annoying and potentially expensive nuisance.
August 3, 2024 at 10:38 am #286149Ordered a e3008 mid February and will pick it up Tuesday the 6th of August.
August 3, 2024 at 3:37 pm #286170This situation isn’t just with Peugeot, I ordered a Skoda Enyaq in November last year and was quoted 16 weeks delivery, 9 months later and it still hasn’t been built never mind delivered.
August 3, 2024 at 5:28 pm #286172The delays seem to be effecting most manufacturers, either by sheer volume or delays in parts sourcing or both.
The one thing we all have to do at the moment is just wait with patience
August 4, 2024 at 1:06 am #286196We order a Dacia Sandero Stepway 11 Jun it was at the car dealers by 19th July
that was from Stock
August 5, 2024 at 2:23 pm #286278Jazz have you chosen the hybrid like mine or the EV.

Hybrid 136GT
August 5, 2024 at 3:27 pm #286281Because of the lengthy delay I have contacted another Motability supplier for a different vehicle. This is the first Motability vehicle that I have applied for and the Peugeot Dealer offered £750 towards the lease when I signed for the contract. Does this apply to all manufacturers?
I am still worried about cancelling the original Peugeot lease contract and if there will be any implications financially, can anyone foresee any problems?

Not sure what deals Peugeot had, at time of you ordering but, I remember when the 3008 first came to the scheme they had a £500 contribution towards the electric versions.
The £750 sounds very much like the New Vehicle Payment given by Motability towards the advance payment or deposited into your bank. This has nothing to do with Peugeot and the offer will be available regardless of manufacturer/dealership you choose.
You can cancel upto the point before entering your PIN number, without any financial implications. The only time you may encounter financial implications is, if you had ordered factory fitted options, that wern’t common.
You have nothing to worry about cancelling and ordering from another dealer.
August 6, 2024 at 1:55 pm #286315Anyone who wants a Peugeot 208 136bhp EDDSC6 or Model they want try Bristol Street Peugeot as they were on the ball with my order or phone around for any up and coming canceled orders which obviously have already been factory built and you maybe lucky.
