Totally agree. I was looking at the Cupra Born as my next car but the new Kia EV3 as certainly made me think again.
October 26, 2024 at 11:00 am #292381I spent a while reading up on this car. It has everything you need and more. Something to consider come next year 2025 for my next car.

Coming soon...BMW X2 sDrive 20i M Sport 5dr Step Auto In November 2025October 26, 2024 at 11:25 am #292385Looks a cracking car. EV5 would be a nice addition to.
October 26, 2024 at 4:59 pm #292402The only thing I’m not sure about is the lack of storage in the centre console. My Ariya isn’t brilliant but the EV3 looks worse.
October 26, 2024 at 9:10 pm #292414Good review here from Ecotricity NZ…give both an allround review and a long distance trip. Plus it has potatoes!
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

Preconditioning standard on top spec only?
Suspect just like Renault they may well back track on that decision

Not sure what you mean by differeny markets?
Preconditioning heat (or cool) the battery pack to optimal temperature before charging.
And a prerequisite in Europr if you want to sell it
Or maybe they may want to push the dearer ( but imo the only one to have) top spec

In the UK Hyundai/Kia battery preconditioning is standard either automatically, when a charger is set as a destination, or manually if the driver is using navigation, to a charger however this may not apply to S Korean market or other matkets around the world, as all manufacturers differ spec according to the the market of resale
Again for the UK market a heat pump will be a £900 option, and will only be available on the top-spec EV3 GT-Line S model. Kia has never really included heat pumps but, Hyundai have started to, even in their 400v architecture cars uch as the Kona. The EV3 will also be 400v rather than 800v, as seen in the higher models, such as the i5/i6 EV6/EV9, so charging will be a maximum of around 130kW.
November 2, 2024 at 6:45 pm #292763Cheers for that info
In any event imo this little/med car is going to be a big big hit over here
Its sure to come on the scheme imo and look forward to seeing one in the flesh quite soon
November 2, 2024 at 9:03 pm #292767i just like the look of it, be interesting if i can get in/out easily.
but its electric although with a decent range i would only have to charge fortnightly.

I would need to charge even less than you with the better range EV3 as at the moment
Im covering 6000 pa with my Megan E Tec and only need to charge every 14 days
A bit of a guess at this stage but I suspect an EV3 fortnightly charge mainly urban use could get you up to 8000 pa

Ele it doesn’t feel particularly small on the inside although the boot is really tight for getting a wheelchair in.

January 4, 2025 at 7:22 pm #295784Recent reports on the Kia EV3
it still can suffer the dreaded Kia 12v battery problem
edit/update the flush door handles freeze solid but I do still like it
The base model has a lot of standard equipment
One Negative to mention is it has a VERY grey plastic interior
Havent seen one up close yet due to being laid up but I aim to do so very soon

January 4, 2025 at 8:44 pm #295787so long as you like black white and shades of grey oh and a pukey green.
whatever happened to reds yellows purples and oranges. lol
January 4, 2025 at 9:08 pm #295788Even when powered down the traction battery should autmatically charge the 12v battery on newer Kia’s, providing the traction battery is above a certain charge. Always the RAC who will be willing to fit a new one and dare I say better than what manufacturers put on vehicles these days.
@mitch most of those colours will look good in the flesh bar the brown lol.January 10, 2025 at 10:39 am #295962Hey All,
I called a few KIA dealers in and around Essex and they all said that they had no idea when or if the EV3 will be added onto the scheme – which is fair enough i guess as I was trying to fish for dealer insider information!
I am hopeful that it gets added as the EV6 is on the scheme which retails in the £50k bracket and the EV3 starts at around c.£33k.
Hope all are keeping warm in the cold!
March 6, 2025 at 8:05 pm #298961Finally got to pop into a dealership while waiting for the Mrs today. Very impressive. Nice and easy to get in and out of. Flat floor plenty of space for the left peg. Miles ahead of the Niro they had alongside it! Let’s hope it’s on the scheme sooner rather than later. It was a GT Line I sat and played in, only thing that didn’t suit me (and I know it won’t suit the better half either) was no adjustable lumber on the passenger seat. Have to go to the GT Line S for that.
